Our Story

Atmore News is a weekly community newspaper serving Atmore and the surrounding area. For us, the key word is community. In the purest meaning of the term, we want to “build community.” We believe a newspaper that truly serves the community belongs to the community.

Atmore News is owned by Sherry Digmon and Myrna Monroe.

Sherry and Myrna started atmore magazine in February 2002. From the beginning, people loved the magazine and it continues to be popular today – even a collector’s item for some people.

The first issue of Atmore News was published June 15, 2005. We publish every Wednesday.

Our other staff members include Donna Fitzpatrick, Walt Butler, Phil Johnson and Gordon Murph. We’re thankful to everyone associated with atmore magazine and Atmore News. We consider them all true friends. They are: Michael Arnold, Karen Langford Brown, Ed Brown, Wanda Hall, Carol Hochstetler, Lacey Hochstetler, Leonard Hursh, Nancy Karrick, Bonnie Latino, Karen Long, Mayor Howard Shell and Susan Tuthill.

This group does everything from delivering papers to writing stories and columns. Their contributions are genuinely appreciated.
