Mark Your Calendar For a Great Family Event
October 23rd, that's the date to be
in Atmore, Alabama as residents turn back their clocks to 1866 when
their community was named Williams Station - just a supply stop along
the Mobile & Great Northern railroad. It was a simpler time,
when life revolved around the railroads and folks marked time by the
sound of the steam engines chugging through town or the whistle of the
local lumber mill. We hope you'll join us in Atmore for this regional
festival that promises a fun day of family entertainment. An
easy one hour drive from Mobile, Pensacola and Baldwin County, Williams
Station Day is packed with great venues to fit every taste. For
the young and young at heart we offer an old fashioned sampling of
southern heritage seasoned with the blues, arts and crafts, cane
milling and railroad memorabilia. Join us!

Let's Go Shopping
Historic
Pensacola Avenue is the setting for two separate art shows, both fine
arts
and crafts. Step up close and observe the trades and traditions
of your
ancestors
as artisans demonstrate. Pottery, fine art, primitive art,
painted
gourds, soap making, bird houses, baskets, and photography - Williams
Station
Day is a great place to purchase those early Christmas gifts.

MICROWAVE
DAVE & THE NUKES
Twenty years of
performances in the U.S. and Europe and six albums – with more on the
way – have helped Microwave Dave & The Nukes establish a wide
multinational audience. Venues vary from French soccer stadiums
to Bike Week in Daytona Beach, from blues cruises on the Big Red Boat
to neighborhood saloons, but the thousands of shows delivered by the
band all reflect one core element: the heritage blues music
enjoys as a lifter of spirits. As Microwave Dave puts it:
“Blues is America’s first – and still best – self-help program.”
Gary Ledbetter, Magician
For over thirty years, Gary has been performing
magic nationally and internationally, including Las Vegas and CNN
News. A terrific entertainer for all ages.

Other performers to be featured on the Center Stage include Tennessee’s
own Roy Harper, Blues Artist Roger “Hurricane” Wilson and
Gospel/Country Instrumentalist Wayne Veal.

Fiddle Me A Tune
The most
valued possession of many a settler in the 1800’s was a fiddle.
Join us for an all day jam session featuring Winkie Hicks’ Frontier
Bluegrass group. From waltzes to hoedowns, these musicians will
impress you with their talent and spontaneity. The Old Time
Fiddlers’ Tent is proudly sponsored by the Atmore News.
Tell Me A Story
PAULA LARKE
Since
people began to communicate with each other, “tell me
a story” has been a request of both children and adults. This
year’s Storytelling Tent sponsors, Alto
Products Corp. and Royal
Oaks Bed & Breakfast are pleased to present Paula Larke,
nationally renowned performer/lecturer. A
veteran of the professional stage, Paula utilizes her music, poetry,
and stories of real life heroes and “she-roes” as a modern day
“dajali”, or historical chronicler. Paula
uses her stories and songs to illustrate essential lessons of
peacemaking: integrity, fortitude, hope, and healing. Visit
www.paulalarke.com for more info on Paula Larke.
Climb Aboard A
Giant Locomotive
What would
a fall heritage event
be without an old time Cane Mill? Montgomery the
horse will be
squeezing cane and real cane syrup will be available at Kyser Kuntry Store. Children of
all ages will enjoy the Model Train Show located inside the YMCA. For Thomas fans, catch
the hayride to the Craig Street crossing where a working locomotive
provided by AL & Gulfcoast Railroad
will be parked. What child would not want to climb aboard this
giant locomotive, sit in the engineer's seat, and sound the whistle?
ALL ABOARD......
FESTIVE FOOD
There will be
lots of choices from many vendors on the street!
