Mark Your Calendar For a Great Family Event
October 24th, that's the date to be
in Atmore, Alabama as residents turn back their clocks to 1866 when
their community was named Williams Station - just a supply stop along
the Mobile & Great Northern railroad. It was a simpler time,
when life revolved around the railroads and folks marked time by the
sound of the steam engines chugging through town or the whistle of the
local lumber mill. We hope you'll join us in Atmore for this regional
festival that promises a fun day of family entertainment. An
easy one hour drive from Mobile, Pensacola and Baldwin County, Williams
Station Day is packed with great venues to fit every taste. For
the young and young at heart we offer an old fashioned sampling of
southern heritage seasoned with the blues, arts and crafts, cane
milling and railroad memorabilia. Join us!

Let's Go Shopping
Historic
Pensacola Avenue is the setting for two separate art shows, both fine
arts
and crafts. Step up close and observe the trades and traditions of your
ancestors
as artisans demonstrate. Pottery, fine art, primitive art,
painted
gourds, soap making, bird houses, baskets, and photography - Williams
Station
Day is a great place to purchase those early Christmas gifts.
Fiddle Me A Tune
The most
valued possession of many a settler in the 1800's was a fiddle.
Join us for an all day jam session featuring some of the regions
best musicians. From waltzes to hoedowns, these musicians will
impress you with their talent. The Old Time Fiddlers' Tent is
proudly sponsored by First National Bank &
Trust of Atmore and The Atmore Advance.
Tell Me A Story
Since people
began to
communicate with each other, "tell me a story" has been a request of
both
children and adults. This year's Storytelling Tent Sponsors, Alabama Power Company, Alto
Products Corp., and Royal Oaks Bed &
Breakfast, are proud to present two regional tellers. Deloris
Gibson, "The Barefooted Poet", was born in Mobile County. She has
entertained audiences of all ages. Gibson's soothing style of
storytelling
fills the stage with a swirl of characters that seem to come to life.
Joseph Trimble is a
known storyteller around Montgomery and surrounding areas. Joseph
uses animated movements, voices, a touch of magic, a dash of music, and
dynamic characters to create a world of imagination.
Climb Aboard A
Giant Locomotive
What would
a fall heritage event
be without an old time Cane Mill? Montgomery the horse will be
squeezing cane and real cane syrup will be available at Kyser Kountry Store. Children of
all ages will enjoy the Model Train Show located inside the YMCA. For Thomas fans, catch
the hayride to the Craig Street crossing where a working locomotive
provided by AL & Gulfcoast Railroad
will be parked. What child would not want to climb aboard this
giant locomotive, sit in the engineer's seat, and sound the whistle?
ALL ABOARD......
FESTIVE FOOD
There will be
lots of choices from many vendors on the street!
