The City of Atmore welcomes you!
Atmore was once just a small town but now has grown into the largest city in Escambia County and 62nd largest in the state. A community of approximately 10,000 Atmore is proud to say we are big enough to grow and for your dreams to come true yet small enough to call home with its warmth and friendly charm. Just 50 miles north of Mobile and Pensacola, Atmore is perfectly positioned to be an attractive area for businesses and families alike. Named one of The Top 50 Safest Cities in Alabama in 2017, Atmore is home to passionate citizens and visionary leadership that is dedicated to revitalizing the city. This redevelopment has attracted new companies, brought in the next generation of workers and residents while keeping our current citizens happy.
From discovering the shops on Main Street to marveling at the beauty of the Little River State Forest and Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve, Atmore holds a wealth of entertainment for residents and visitors alike. Other amenities of the area include the Atmore Municipal Airport, a state-of-the-art Outpatient Clinic, and several city pools.  The City of Atmore and Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for everyone by attracting a skilled workforce, local and regional businesses, and higher-paying jobs.
PROXIMITY/LOCATION
The City of Atmore has a unique advantage being within close proximity of Interstate 65, which provides a passageway to Gulf Coast beaches and is also part of the aerospace corridor in our region.
DOWNTOWN
Downtown Atmore is full of charm, character, and one-of-a-kind shopping experiences. Whether you're searching for the perfect gift, updating your wardrobe, enjoying a great meal, or simply spending the afternoon exploring, you'll quickly discover why so many people love shopping local in Atmore.
Our downtown is home to a wonderful mix of locally owned businesses, including unique gift shops, men's, women's, and children's boutiques, antique stores, a locally owned bookstore, specialty retailers, and delicious restaurants. Every shop has its own personality, making each visit a new experience.
Just beyond our historic downtown, you'll also find even more local treasures, including the We Care Thrift Store. Opened just over a year ago, this incredible shop features thousands of unique finds, gently loved treasures, and even a coffee shop where you can relax while you browse.
While you're here, be sure to visit the historic Strand Theatre. In addition to hosting movies and special events throughout the year, the Strand features a beautiful event space that's perfect for weddings, parties, meetings, and other celebrations.
One thing that makes Atmore unique is that many of our downtown businesses are closed on Mondays, allowing owners and employees time to rest and recharge after a busy weekend. We encourage visitors to plan their shopping trips Tuesday through Saturday to experience everything downtown has to offer.

QUALITY OF LIFE FOR SENIORS
The City of Atmore is committed to providing services to our senior citizens on a daily basis. These services have proven to be vital in keeping our older citizens independent. Two assisted living facilities (The Meadows and The Summit) one nursing home (Atmore Nursing Center), and the Atmore SAIL Center serve senior citizens in Atmore and its outlying areas. The SAIL Center contributes in a positive way to the quality of life senior citizens enjoy, not only by providing meals but by offering health education by various healthcare professionals, safety education and daily activities. Meals are available to seniors in the congregate meal setting, as well as through homebound delivery of meals. Atmore has two vans that are used for the transportation of senior citizens for social outings, health fairs and events with seniors from other areas.
As you can see from all of the activities, one of the essential components that make us great is community involvement and teamwork. Whether you are a resident, a visitor looking to relocate, or you’re searching for a home for a potential business, we believe that you will find that the City of Atmore has a lot to offer, and we are glad you are here!
